Starting the
website
Development Process

I'll call or meet with you as soon as possible to talk about your website
development process and design expectations. The goal of this phase is to
help you define your ideas and to ensure that we both have an accurate
understanding as to what you want.
The following process will
give you an idea as to what will happen during the development process.
- Identify Your website Objective

As you would expect, this is the most important part of the
website development process. Before any work begins, you'll first
determine what you want to accomplish. You will decide what direction you
want your website to go. You'll answer questions about the type of product
or service being offered as well as how the website will function. All
work will be based upon your customers needs and wants.
- Your Customers

Determine who your customers are. They come first. Your objective is to
provide your customers with what they want quickly and without disruption.
All of your content will be geared toward your customers interests.
- Providing Fresh Ideas for Development

You may have several ideas that you feel are noteworthy and would like to
implement them into your website design. Now is the time to bring them out so
we can start to shape the look and feel of your site.
- Cost and Time Requirements

At this time you will determine how much you wish to spend on your website
as well as a reasonable time period for it to be completed. Depending upon
your site expectations and our design work process, we will come to a
mutual agreement as to what it will cost and how long it will take to
complete it.
- Your Site Design

After gathering all the content that will be on the website, we'll combine it with some of the concepts from the
Development stage to create a basic design that will serve as a blueprint for the next phase.
I'll develop the site around the content you provide.
- Your Site Navigation

I will create a site navigation scheme that will fit comfortably
with
the design of your site. You will then determine the level of importance
for each topic so they can be added correctly to the navigation layout.

-
Putting it All
Together

After a design has been approved by you, I'll create a working model of
the main page as well as one or more sub pages. This will give us an idea
of how it'll look and function online.
-
Backend Design

If your site requires the use
of a CGI script or JavaScript, I'll install it and make sure that it
works properly.
- Updating Content and Placement

We will edit the content that you provided us to fit comfortably on your web pages. If too little content is provided, I can add more for a small
fee. Likewise, if we have too much content, I'll edit accordingly to
provide only the most important information to your customers.
- Activating Your Site

After the website has been built and is working to your satisfaction, I
will activate it so it can be seen by everyone on the Internet. Once
online, we will perform several tests to make sure that it's working
properly and is easy to navigate.
- Training and Documentation

There may be several things
that you will need to know about your website. It may require special
passwords or the use of an administration area. I'll guide you through
these areas until you fully understand what to do when the need arises.
- Website Maintenance

Upon request I will be happy to make changes to your website. It may
include modifying basic text, redesigning the layout of a web page or
redirecting your email. Fresh content and design will keep visitors
returning to your site again and again. I'll also provide a web page editing
feature that allows you to make your own changes to your site while online.
- Ongoing Support

After your website is up and running, there may eventually come a time
when you'll need help. It could be as easy as setting up a new email
account on your computer or trying to change an outdated image on your
website. I'll help you take care of these problems as well as
more difficult ones. If I can't provide a answer quickly, I'll
research the problem until I can find a reasonable solution.
